Movie Review: 21 Jump Street
Funniest Movie this year- or so far anyway! ( except Hollywood does a second tropic thunder)
So I went to see this movie for 1 reason: Johnny Depp (the love of my life)! So there was a tv show in the late 80's and early 90's called 21 jump street which made the career of Mr Depp and transformed him into a household name before he became this famous!
This movie is a reboot of the tv show and has cameos from all of the stars from the tv show.
The movie stars a recently slim Jonah Hill and the ever good looking Channing Tatum in their funniest yet. The movie also stars Rob Riggle, Ellie Kenpner, Ice Cube, Dave Franco (yes he's James Franco's brother), Chris Parnell and a couple other people.
Plot Summary:
A pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.
Fun trivia:
1. Jonah Hill is one of the writers of the movie.
2. Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for parts in the movie.
3. Channing Tatum passed on the movie twice, Jonah Hill had to convince him to do it.
The movie was seriously funny, the movie plot was strong and the supporting characters were great! This might just be the best comedy of 2012 (maybe Ted from Seth Macfarlane might be funnier, we just have to wait).
Comments always welcome!! :D

Movie Review: the Hunger Games
Hey again,
Movie nerd back in the building. Hope y'all had great weekends cos mine was almost fabulous.
So best thing about this weekend was the Hunger Games. As usual your girl went for the midnight screening and boy was it good.
I had read the hunger games trilogy over spring break and I was immediately enamored with the story and adventure. For the Harry Potter fans out there, I describe the first book as an extension of the tri-wizard tournament from the goblet of fire but a bit more deadlier, gory and no magic.
Oh lest I forget, the plot synopsis:
Suzanne Collins
In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives. -- IMDb Plot: The Hunger Games (2012)
The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence who was also Mystique in Last year's X-men: first class wearing only body paint, Liam Hemsworth aka Thor's Brother aka Miley Cyrus' Boyfriend, Josh Hutcherson (who was suprisingly very good, I didn't expect him to capture the essence of Peeta that well), Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Amandla Stenberg (little girl from colombiana), Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, Donald Sutherland, Dayo Okeniyi (yes he's Nigerian), Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Furhman (creepy girl from the Orphan) oh and many more. Apparently every star wanted to be in the movie.
Anyway, stays as true to the book as he can and adds a little fit drama but all in all it was very well directed and the story was told so beautifully. The film has already broken records by becoming the third highest opening weekend ever only behind The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. The movie made an estimated $155 million this weekend alone. You don't want to be the last to see this movie. Leave your comments if you've already seen the movie and come back and leave a comment after you have seen this movie.
Extra tidbits: for the ladies, main reason to see the movie: Liam Hemsworth aka Thor's Brother and guys, Jennifer Lawrence is an absolute stunner- she has that natural beauty cos she has little or no makeup on plus she's an Oscar nominee from when she was just 18 (impressive huh!!)
Till my next visit to the theatre!!

Movie review ---> Chronicle
Hey people,
I'm back again! Haven't updated in a while cos of midterms and stuff! Anyway I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and decided to write a review cos I loved it so much!
Plot Summary
Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.
So, the plot of the movie says it all! The amazing thing about the movie is that it is shot through the camera lens of one of the characters so it's sort of a narrative of sorts. The actors are young and new and this is the directors debut movie!!
It's not your classic superhero and villain movie. Like a reviewer said, it's shows you the origins of heroes and villains. The story unfolds in a very fun way and then goes darker and more sinister. I encourage everyone to see this movie and leave your comments after you see it (or before).

Movie Review--> The Descendants
So, yeah, I'm now a movie blogger- Sue me. I have decided to write more about stuff I know and I know movies very well. Hope the review goes well and it will make you see the movie.
So the plot for The Descendants: With his wife Elizabeth on life support after a boating accident, Hawaiian land baron Matt King takes his daughters on a trip from Oahu to Kauai to confront the young real estate broker, who was having an affair with Elizabeth before her misfortune.
The plot doesnt explain much but after watching this movie, I fell in love with George Clooney over again. This is not the same Clooney we saw in the Ocean's triology- Cool, Suave Clooney. This is the vulnerable and helpless Clooney. After watching a lot of movies with George, this one stood out. He looked like a normal human being, who cried, laughed with his daughters, cursed and did outrageously stupid stuff. Now we know why he deserved his Oscar Nomination.
During the course of the movie, we are forced to laugh at the characters and cry with them also. The movie goes deep into finding the emotions of a man who has responsibility pushed on him when he least expected it.
I recommend this movie because it shows a great steller performance from all the supporting characters: Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller, Scott Krause, and Robert Foster.
I give the movie a 4.5/5 just because I dont believe anything is fully perfect.
Comment with your thoughts and make sure you see the movie and comment after you see it. :D
